Val di Non, Italy: Registration is now open for the World Snowshoe Championships 2027, which will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2027, in Val di Non, Trentino, Italy, as part of the iconic 53rd edition of La Ciaspolada.
The championship will bring together snowshoe runners from across the world for a major international celebration of the sport, with the World Snowshoe Championships being staged in conjunction with one of the world’s most established snowshoe races.

World Championships on January 5
The 2027 edition of La Ciaspolada will have the status of the World Snowshoe Championships, marking the third time that the historic Val di Non event has hosted the world title competition, following the championships in 2013 and 2019.
The event is being held under the umbrella of the World Snowshoe Federation (WSSF) and will feature international athletes competing for world championship honours.
The competitive race is scheduled to start at 10:30 am on January 5, followed by the non-competitive fun race at 10:35 am. The exact race location within Alta Val di Non will be confirmed closer to the event, depending on snow and weather conditions.
Registration Now Open
The official registration portal provides options for both individual and group entries. The organisers have also made snowshoe rental available for participants who do not have their own equipment.
For the competitive race, the current registration fee is:
- €30 — without snowshoe rental
- €33 — with snowshoe rental
Participants entering the competitive race must provide their year of birth and submit a valid sports medical certificate or sports membership documentation as required by the organisers.
The competitive field includes junior, senior and veteran age categories for both men and women. The junior category is for athletes aged 19 or younger in 2027, while senior and veteran categories cover athletes from 20 years upwards.
A Global Snowshoe Gathering
The World Snowshoe Championships will form part of the legendary La Ciaspolada, an event that has been held in Val di Non since 1973 and attracts athletes, families, mountain enthusiasts and visitors from different parts of the world.
The 2027 edition is expected to provide a unique combination of elite international competition and the traditional atmosphere of La Ciaspolada, making Val di Non a global meeting point for the snowshoe-running community.
The official programme lists January 4 for registration and group-related activities, before the World Championship race takes centre stage on January 5.
