ABOUT WSSF

The World Snowshoe Association (formerly known as the ISSF) is a non-profit, international sports federation, that was founded in 2010.

The WSSF serves as the international governing body for snowshoe racing, supporting and coordinating national organizations worldwide. Its annual Congress is typically held just before the World Snowshoe Championships.

The World Snowshoe Association formerly known as the ISSF is a non-profit, international sports federation registered in Canada.

Founded in 2010, the WSSF has held annual championships across the globe in several countries, growing snowshoe racing into a truly international competitive sport with athletes from every corner of the world.

Federation Founded

The International Snowshoe Federation (ISSF) was officially established and registered as a non-profit international sports organization in Canada. This marked the beginning of a unified effort to promote, govern, and develop competitive snowshoe racing on a global scale.

2011 — Onwards

Annual World Championships

Since 2011, the federation has successfully organized World Championship events across North America, Europe, and Asia, bringing together elite athletes, national teams, and snowshoe enthusiasts while expanding the sport’s international presence.

Rebranded

ISSF Becomes WSSF

To better represent its growing international membership and worldwide influence, the International Snowshoe Federation (ISSF) was rebranded as the World Snowshoe Federation (WSSF), reinforcing its commitment to serving the global snowshoe community.

2025

World Championships Registration Open

Athletes from around the world are invited to participate in the 2025 World Snowshoe Championships. The event will showcase top-level competition, international camaraderie, and the continued growth of snowshoe racing as a recognized winter sport.

OUR MISSION

The primary mission of the WSSF is to develop to develop snowshoe activities at all levels across the world. This includes but not limited to grass roots recreational events, junior development, adult learn to snowshoe events and international championships. Our goal is to have as many people around the world as possible passionately enjoying snowshoeing as a winter health and fitness activity.
